Stop Regret and Start Living
Boomers and Middle Agers -Is Regret Getting You Down? Maybe You gotta stop regret and change your attitude! Haven’t you wished you could do it all over again and stop regret. What with your years of experience and acquired wisdom. Just think about, wouldn’t it be fun to redo your life all over? I think it would be a blast. But then, maybe I am an exception, but I doubt it. Just think, what your life would or could be like, right now, if you could do it all over again. Does the thought blow your mind? It certainly does mine. Both personal and business reasons would keep me busy from now til doomsday. Are you with me, so far?Oh and what fun I would have in the business world. I might add, what a “profitable” good time. I have learned the hard way, that good business practice is about creating and maintaining dynamic relationships. This is something you really have to work at. And, it takes a great deal of time inorder to do it right. Most importantly, if I had it to do over again, I would have my priorities set straight. Things I used to think were important and unimportant, have changed. I would certainly give friendships and loyalties a tremendous amount of time and attention. Networking, the art of, and maintaining friendships would be number 1 for me. No question about it. I read about a study made about the benefits of friends and relationships. Guess what? The study concluded that having a network of friends is more nourishing then having members of your family interact with you when you are sick. Go figure? Start Living What this article boils down to is coping with regret. We can’t bring back or redo the “past”. Sorry, that’s gone forever. But don’t give up in despair. There is hope. By this I mean, we do have a second chance to correct the mistakes of our past and stop regret. Here’s what I am talking about. Realistically speaking, we can work with “situations” similar to our past regrets, and make them work for us. How’s that you ask? For example, lets say a coworker insults you in some manner. This reminds you of a situation that occurred with you several years ago at work.Only at that time, you lost your cool and blew you stack. Consequently, that person was a thorn in your side for years. You have regretted your outburst and you wish you had bit your tongue. Now you have an opportunity to hold you temper in check and not make a jerk out of yourself. So you can follow the precepts of wisdom and hold your tongue. The same thing and opportunities apply to just about anything else you may encounter relating to your behavior and potential regrets. This “re-engineering” of your behavior applies to both your personal and professional life. Just try it. Apply “positive response” behavior power of belief to those very similar situations that border closely to those very hurtful “regrets” you are carrying around with you. In time, I am positive you will feel a lot more energy in your daily life. Mainly, because you won’t be harboring all of that negative regret you are carrying around in your mind and body. Cheers. Til next time.
