About Jack Marinchek, A Man of Strong Spirit and Publisher of Stand for Your Greatness

I am a man of strong spirit, who wants to serve as inspiration for people. Why? Because I believe I have a lot to offer people who are looking to get on with their lives. Perhaps they wish to reach out and make the most of their lives. What I am offering is encouragement and inspiration.

Anyway, I am a man of understanding. My understanding and passion for life results from a recent bout with Colon Cancer. After surgery, chemo, and radiation treatment, I ended up in the hospital for an additional 18 days. Apparently my body received too much radiation.

Making a long story short, I nearly died. The Docs told me I was a real hard case, having survived pneumonia, nausea, diarrhea, and a loss of 25 lbs. My radiologist told me, I was the sickest patient he has ever seen. Sounds bad doesn’t? Woe is me! I’ll let you in on a big secret…there are a lot of worse things than dying.

Check out my cancer alarm mode.

One day while I was lying in bed, the neurologist told me I was going to be “this sick” the rest of my life. You bet, I became very angry at this doc, and I mustered all of the strength I had, lifted my head, and cursed him. I thought to my self, "he doesn't know this man of strong spirit".

Anyway, that’s all history now. I am healthy and glad I am alive. I make it a point of keeping my immune system strong by working out 6 days a week-biking, running, using the weight room, and swimming. Exercise is supposed to help people stay strong.

I am used to exercise. That’s right, I am a 70 year old 2nd Degree Black Belt. I went into martial arts at age 57 and I received by 2nd Degree Black Belt when I was 63. Approximately 10% of all aspiring martial artists obtain a black belt. It’s a long slow process. Just like life!

Docs and nurses told me, a big reason I got through that “hospital” experience, was because I was in pretty good physical shape. I credit my martial art background for my reserve strength and stamina. At least, for a guy my age. I am a man of strong spirit.

I think of another reason I survived…is because of my strong spirit. At least that is what my Tae Kwon Do Master told me. That’s right. While I was testing for my 2nd Degree Black Belt, my Master Instructor presented me with a special trophy in recognition of being a man of strong spirit.

Apparently, I demonstrated a very strong spirit when I met the challenges of testing for my 2nd Degree. The trophy was a statue of a Korean Samurai. I will never forget how proud I was of that award.

Giving it the "all you got attitude" is the reason I came in "2nd" for my age group in a national triathlon sponsored by the Aarp organization. That happened four years ago.Now that was a challenge! Swimming, biking, and running.

The Big Deal about the triathlon was getting in shape to compete or just finish. I spent two months “getting ready“. I was shocked when I finished 2nd. I was just hoping to “finish” the event.Let's forget about the physical stuff for a moment. There is something else I received from martial arts. I credit the renewal of my marriage to my Tae Kwon Do experience. Yeah, can you believe it? How did this happen?

Giving respect and courtesy are two tenets learned in Tae Kwon Do. Soon after I began training in the martial arts, I learned about the importance of treating people with strong respect and courtesy.

This respectful and courteous attitude carried over to my home life. My wife noticed the change in me immediately. That’s right. I deliberately used the acts of courtesy and respect towards my wife. Soon, my wife began responding in a similar manner. Before we knew it, we actually enjoyed being around each other.

I look back on my “evolution of attitude” towards my wife as a miracle. I am proud to say my wife and I now love each other and treat one another with great courtesy and respect. For that matter, I try my best to be respectful and courteous to everyone. This is one of the big reasons, parents enjoy having their children involved in Traditional Martial Arts.

Maybe it was being a man of strong spirit that made me a leading sales producer of one the largest home builders in Chicago, Illinois. Making a long story short, my intense desire to be a successful real estate salesman led me to the “visualization” process. Yeah, I ran into a book, that was about “psychokinetics”. The science of making things happen with psychic energy.

So, here I was, visualizing myself selling houses to people like it was going out of style. This approach was a pre runner to the visualization process professional and Olympic athletes use now for maximum success. I made all kinds of sales records. I couldn’t believe it. It was “magic”.

I took this “visualization” system with me, when I moved to Florida. You guessed it. It worked there also. From selling moderately priced houses in Illinois to selling high end condos in Florida, it all worked out the same. What you see is what you get. No kidding! It really works. That same trait, being a man of strong spirit, got me through the Marine Corps when I was 18 years old. And, I know it was my “do or die spirit“, that made me a killer football tackler in high school. I was a very intense “ tackler”. Yeah! I loved to tackle running backs twice my size.

I used to “knock em out”. I kid you not. The bigger there were, the harder they fell. They had to carry the poor chaps off the field on a stretcher. I loved it. My secret was a known fact of physics. My coach explained to me that the fastest body upon collision gets hurt or disrupted the least. The slower body gets creamed. Guess what? He was right!

Now, can you guess what my big challenge is? I am trying to build a “following” of people that I can inspire and genuinely help. I say my specialty is boomers and seniors. I just say that because I am 70 myself. I really don’t care what age you are, if I can offer some inspiration and help.

If you have any suggestions, drop me a line in the contact form below. Thanks, jack
