Making Change Isn't Easy

Do you want making change for the better? Then, you will need to quit doing things the same old way you like doing them.

Making positive change in your life isn’t easy. Why? Because making change requires people to leave their comfort zone. In another words, doing things the same old familiar way just isn’t going to cut it.

The real question for most people who want to make improvements in their lives probably should ask is, do I want change bad enough to withstand the stress and strain that comes with transformation? More specifically, “Am I willing to pay the bloody price?”

If you really are willing to withstand the stress that comes from transformation, I dare say, you are an exceptional person. Most people simply can’t heck the turmoil that comes with transformation. See Maxwell Malt’s book on Psycho-Cybernetics. This book deals with the subconscious mind and self-image.

The problem with staying in your comfort zone is that we seldom get anywhere. If you keep doing the same old thing you most definitely will keep getting the same old results.

Here’s an example of personal stress experience. Recently, I joined the Emergency Squad at the community I live in. The Squad is a volunteer program that requires its participants to be on call once a week. I am a First Responder. When people in the community get sick, they call the Squad.

We go to the peoples’ homes in an ambulance and check the people out. If we feel its necessary, we take them to the hospital. Each ambulance crew consists of three people.

I went into this program with the idea of paying back the help myself and my family have received from the Squad. Here’s my problem. This position I have volunteered for requires a lot of knowledge in areas I am or was totally unfamiliar with.

Subsequently, I am spending a great deal more of time on this project then I had anticipated. Not to mention the stress and strain I feel when going on an ambulance run.

One part of me wants to quit this activity and get rid of the stress. The other part of me wants to hang in there and get the job done and honor my commitment. I will let you know what part of me wins this struggle, the strong or weak side of myself.

Good luck in your pursuit of realizing your potential.
